WFD Chili Cook-Off Fundraiser

Join us on October 18th for Austin NARI’s 1st Annual Workforce Development Foundation Fundraiser Chili Cook-off & Cornhole Tournament, featuring live music by The Spazmatics!
Chili Cook-Off Rules
All Chili Teams must complete and submit the official entry form online with payment to Austin NARI Workforce Development Fund by October 4th. Limited to 40 Teams
All chili must be prepared from scratch at the event during the time frame of the event. Regular commercial chili powder is permissible but complete chili mixes are not permitted.
All chili must be prepared visible-to-all areas. Some electricity may be available at cooking sites. Teams to provide all cooking apparatus, i.e. propane, has fired heat and/or its and items for public sampling. (suggestion on public sampling – use small dixie cups & provide spoons for approx. 200 people).
Teams may begin cooking after 11:30 and no earlier. There will be a “Head Cook’s Meeting at 11:00 at the judging area. All teams must have a representative present. Sampling by judges will begin at 4:00 pm Judging will take place at 4:00 pm and sampling by general public will begin at 4:00 pm.
Ingredients must be fresh/edible for human consumption. All vegetables or fillers must be minced or cooked so that they cannot be readily seen. Beans cannot be a part of the chili mixture. Judging guidelines are based directly on CASI rules, which you can find by visiting: www.chili.org. A minimum of 4 gallons of chili is required of each team. (Public Sampling & judges).
Austin NARI will assign cooking sites. Cooking sites will be determined on a first come first serve basis. Austin NARI will be at the event at 7:00 am. Please provide your own table and chairs. You may begin setting up your booth after your team has registered with Austin NARI and your booth location has been determined, however you may not begin cooking until after the cooks meeting at 11:00. Complete clean up is required by 10:00 but your booth may not be taken down until after the band and awards are complete. Booth Space is 10’x10’.
All booths must be paid in full prior to the event. There will be no refunds on booth entries, cornhole teams or tickets. No Exceptions. Each person involved in the Chili Cook-off, committee members etc., must purchase a ticket to the event.
Showmanship Guidelines We are all here to have fun for a great cause! Be creative!
Public Judging will decide on the People’s Choice award for the Best Showmanship & Chili. Each attendee will be given 2 voting cards that they will turn in with their vote. Showmanship will be judged on originality of the theme (creativity), costume, audience appeal and booth set up.
